Yes. Under s.35 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (as amended) educational establishments are permitted to make a recording of a broadcast for the non commercial educational purposes of that establishment without infringing copyright. At present it appears that SKY TV broadcast material is not part of a broadcasting licence scheme and so the provisions of the Act will apply.
