Can a Kenyan born person run for President of the United States of America?
A President has to be a natural-born US citizen (contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be born in the United States). So if a child was born in Kenya to American parents (and hence received their citizenship) and had resided in the US for at least fourteen years prior to seeking the presidency, he/she would be eligible. The last American born abroad to seek a major party’s nomination was Michigan Governor George Romney (Mitt Romney’s father) in 1968. He was born in Mexico.
