Can a juvenile in a traffic case apply for a Public Defender?
A. This depends on the case involved. If you are charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs (OVI), of driving without a license or when your license is under suspension (DUS), if you have previously been warned by a court that you could be incarcerated, or if you face any other charge for which you could be incarcerated, you are entitled to a Public Defender if you are indigent.
