Can a janitorial subcontractor in Alberta, Canada hire employees to do the work?
A subcontractor is a person with their own business and, unless there is something in the job contracts you take that specify that you cannot hire employees to do the job, you can do whatever you want to complete the job. Just make sure that you have your business properly set up first – business license, registration with Workers Compensation, GST number, etc. (including registering with CRA for payroll deductions if you are going to have employees).
