Can a J-1 scholar switch (or transfer) from one university to another?

0

In general a transfer is permitted if the scholar will pursue the same research or teaching objective at another university, provided the total period of time is within the limits allowed for the scholar’s category. The category and subject/field code in Box 4 must continue the same. The Responsible Officer or Alternate Responsible Officer in the international scholar offices of the two institutions must arrange for transfer before the end date on the current DS-2019 form. To assist with specific cases, ISSS requires the UCSC department to include the relevant information and copies of documents in part 3 of our “Visa Request for Temporary Teaching or Researcher” in case a transfer of programs is appropriate.
