Can a home lizard be killed?is there any myth surrounding it in Hindu religion?
Dear, Why do you ask for killing a Lizard only? Because, you may be talking only on myth! Killing any, may be a human being, an animal, a bird or any living thing should not be done. All are the nature’s creation and have the right to live till such time they are to be self extinguished. I am of the opinion that let us live peacefully and let other things also in their own way so there should not be any aim on killing. Let us not bring killing to the religious way that is to say no religion should say can be killed or not to be killed by keeping their myth a symbol. If you can think on this way a Vulture or a Dog are not appreciated, but if you think on the other way “they are the nature’s scavengers” are they not useful and is not a nature’s creation. I hope your doubt is cleared in other way and is convincing.
I must confess, I have killed a lizard….but I hope my bad deed will be forgiven, since I repent it till today,and pray to be forgiven every time I do pray! I don’t think that I feel sorry only because there is a Hindu saying that killing lizards is inauspicious(but my grandma explains that this is all because lizards contain a poison in them), its more because I repent having killed a harmless creature.
