Yes, if they are eligible for assignment. For example Blake Ahearn was a GATORADE Call-Up from Dakota to the San Antonio Spurs in 2008. He was then assigned to the NBA D-League and played for the Spurs’ affiliate in Austin. In other cases, an NBA team can sign a player from their affiliate and then send him back to that affiliate as an assigned player. Examples from last season include Alonzo Gee (Spurs/Toros) and Mike Harris (Rockets/Vipers).
