Can a gardenia survive in missouri climate?

0

I live in southeast Missouri and planted 4 gardenias by our home this spring. Two are doing extremely well and two aren’t (they’re beginning to shrivel a bit and just aren’t thriving like the others). From what I’ve learned, gardenias can be pretty tricky to keep alive, you can’t water them too little or too much and they need a lot of sun. They also do not do well in cold weather so it’s recommended to pot them and bring them inside during the winter months. Also, mine flowered but not for long. It’s usually recommended to not have gardenias in Missouri but if you can keep them alive, they’re truly a beautiful plant.
