Can a fungal ear infection cause enlarged lymph nodes?
When your lymph nodes are swollen, it is a sign that your body is trying to fight off an infection. The swelling occurs because of the increased production of lymphocytes, which collect/destroy whatever is making you sick. The lymph nodes found in the hollow space right above your collar bone are called the supraclavicular lymph nodes. They drain your chest and stomach of infections, not your ears. But yes, swollen lymph nodes can be caused by ear infections, fungal and otherwise. I don’t think you need to be concerned about cancer. An ear infection isn’t going to cause lymphoma. Just so you know, some of the symptoms of lymph node cancers are night sweats, unexplained weight loss, constant fatigue, unexplained fever…you don’t mention any symptoms even close to these….Your doctor visit will give you peace of mind, don’t worry. Chronic ear infections aren’t out of the ordinary, and I have never read anything about them causing lymphoma.
