Can a finished roll of paper have a localized watermark?
A. For a localized watermark, the marks are placed specifically on the dandy roll to repeat according to the customer requirements. During manufacture, the paper shrinks and stretches to different degrees between the inside and outside edges of the machine. Localizing the product takes place during the SHEETING of the product. Rolls are sheeted very slowly one roll at a time and the equipment is especially equipped with lights and mechanisms to advance or retard the speed of the machine altering the cut off and ensuring that the mark is localized according to instructions. Because localizing takes place during the sheeting process, it is not possible to localize rolls.
