Can a female cat be spayed whilst she is in heat?
Yes cats can be spayed while they are in heat, but many vets will charge you more for doing the surgery during their heat cycle. The blood vessels and such are bigger and bleeding is a bigger risk than when an animal is not in heat. It’s still a relatively safe procedure, and a better alternative to the cat getting pregnant and having more kittens, thus adding to the overpopulation of cats and kittens. Speak with your vet and see what they advise, that’s always the best option.
