Can a dry environment cause electronic problems?

Static is always an issue in cold dry climates and that could be your issue. but I would check the possibility of a remote control interfearance issue first. we had a remote control ceiling fan that would turn off or the light would turn on or off for no aparent reason. after several monthes of this speratic problems I finally got out the ladder and changed the remote code and the issue was gone. now you most likely dont have a code you can change with your TV remote but I would sugest you try putting some black tape or anything that will block the signal ussualy infared from getting to the recieveing eye on your TV set and see if that solves your issue.
