Can a dog produce colostrum during false pregnancy?
Yes, a dog can produce colostrum during a false pregnancy. We had a golden retriever that produced milk when she grew up and we got a kitten and she actually breast fed the kitten. Try feeling her stomach and try noticing if she’s getting fatter or not. If she seems more tired/relaxed than usual and is eating more and just lying around then she might be pregnant. False pregnancies have different symptoms. The dog can get anxious or sad or nervous, this happened with a poodle we had that went through a false pregnancy. If she is pregnant than you should give her puppy food until the puppies are born and she stops breasfeeding them. Then you give the puppies puppy food but put the dog on adult food. If its a false pregnancy then you should take her to the vet to see what you can do. Usually colostrum is produced after the dog gives birth…
