Can a dog get Lymes disease…we saw a tick on our Otis?

Any animal a tick can get on can get lyme. You can try frontline or another, similar product. These help control ticks, fleas and sometimes mosquitos. You should also comb through your dog’s hair atleast once a day and check him for ticks. Generally only the very small and hard to see deer ticks carry lyme. Yes, he probably gets them from playing in tall leaves, but you can also pick them up virtually anywhere. My dog had lyme and he wasn’t very pleasant. We caught it right away and put him on antibiotics for two weeks. He was back to normal by the 5th day. Some signs to watch for: limping or other pain in joint areas, loss of appetite, listlisness and just not being right.
