Can a disability case be closed because a claimant has failed to cooperate?
Absolutely. A good example would be a situation in which the DDS Examiner schedules a claimant for a medical examination and the claimant fails to show up for it. The claimant provides a reasonable explanation for missing the appointment, and the DDS Examiner reschedules it. Once again the claimant fails to appear for the appointment, but once again provides a reasonable explanation, so the DDS Examiner reschedules again. This time, when the claimant fails to appear for the examination, the DDS Examiner closes the case because the claimant has failed to cooperate. Actually, a DDS Examiner would not have to give the claimant three tries before closing the case.
