Can a Defective LCD Ribbon Cause the Laptop Screen to Flicker?
Yes, the video cable ribbon (connector) transmits video data from the motherboard electronics to the laptop’s LCD screen. This ribbon connector passes from the base of the laptop into the lid, where the screen is embedded. By frequent opening and closing of the lid, the ribbon gets worn out and over time, can cause the screen to flicker. Remember that screen flickering can also happen because of a bad backlight (the most common cause of LCD monitor repair). But in laptops, the ribbon connector is usually the cause of repair.
