Can a customer currently on a Node License take advantage of the device option?
Yes, the customer can choose to stay on the Node License or move to device. All node licenses will continue in effect unless the customer chooses to move off the Node option. Novell offers MLA customers the choice to buy either by user or by device in specific products. MLA customers who want to take advantage of the device option must accept the terms and conditions of the latest version of the MLA contract. All transitions to user or device-based licenses will occur on a 1:1 ratio. No paperwork is required for the transition from Node License to the device model. Under the user/device option, customers will buy the standard User part number but will document internally what unit of counting they are using. If any licenses are to be retired during this transition, the customer must fill out the appropriate documents for a reduced license count (see www.novell.com/licensing/policy for details).
