Can a contractor legally install a garage door with NO safty sensor?
the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in 1993, passed a law that required all garage door manufacturers to equip their garage doors with photoelectric sensors, and pressure-sensitive sensors.Three aspects of your garage door should be checked: the balance, the safety reversal system and the electronic eye sensors. Now look at what year your home was built. If it was before 1992 there is no legal law saying that a safety sensor and or pressure sensitive system need to be installed next time you get a garage door and they ask you whatt year is your house there is a reason for that. And if your house is post 1992 then it should have those safety features. point blank they are responsible not you as the home owner.
