Can a CKC dog be registered with the AKC or vice versa?

A dog can belong to multiple registries. An AKC dog can certainly be registered with the (lesser) CKC. The only way a dog can be AKC registered is if BOTH parents (no exceptions) are registered with the AKC. So if you have a CKC only dog, and the parents were NOT AKC you cannot register her with the AKC. EDIT: Julie is totally right. I assumed “Continnental”, but the Canadian Kennel Club is equal to the AKC. And the same rules apply. ConKC cannot be registered with CanKC unless both dam AND sire were registered with the CanKC. Any AKC or CanKC dog can be CKC as well, but I can’t see what the benefit would be…

I would contact AKC or CKC directly to get the 100% correct answer, though I believe it is not necessary as I expect they have reciprocal agreements and adhere to the same breeding standards

CKC as in the Continental Kennel Club? or CKC as in the Canadian Kennel Club? Canadian Kennel Club has reciprocal registration privileges with the AKC, so you would be able to transfer the registration to AKC. Continental Kennel Club is a sham registry formed by puppy mills and backyard breeders who were suspended from AKC. If that’s the CKC you are talking about, AKC does not recognize those dogs and they can not be registered with AKC. You could register an AKC dog with CKC, though I don’t know why anyone would want to. Continental Kennel Club registration is not worth the paper it’s printed on. They’ll register anything that two people will sign a statement saying is purebred. It’s totally worthless.
