I think the best answer I could give you is that there are ALOT more jobs for civil engineers then there are for architectural engineers… Hence the reason there aren’t many universities offering AE. I know that isn’t what you were asking, but I just want to get that out there since you are at a crossroads with your career. I really don’t know a whole lot about AE… I had a friend that majored in it at MSOE and hated it and went into software engineering. As far as licensing… I dont believe there is a FE or PE exam for AE… I think its limited to: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, and Chemical (perhaps one more that I forgot). Anyway if you know nothing about licensing, you need to know you will first have to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (most people take it their senior year, but you can take it later).
