Can a child crawl to the centre of the net and drown?
Although the net can easily, support the weight of an adult or child, a child could be in danger on a net near the middle of a pool, because the weight of a child could cause the net to sag a few inches below the water level. Fortunately this has never been known to happen. Most children do not enjoy being on the net, it is uncomfortable and very difficult to crawl on. All children strong or old enough to crawl that far onto the net crawl back when they start to get wet, or the child is strong or old enough to sit up or lift it’s head. The same child who climbs to the centre of the net, could probably have climbed a fence or opened the pool gate, and could theoretically be at the bottom of the pool if there was no net, This unfortunate child would not be seen, and would not have the chance to scream or hold it’s head up as it can do with the pool safety net There is no substitute for adult supervision.
