Can a CD be recorded with too much bass?

0

A while back, I was having trouble with my 8″ Kicker subwoofer distorting on bass notes. I tried it with a Chevelle CD only though. I finally just turned the bass on the HU down to +1 only. It’s been that way for about 3 weeks. Then the other day, I put in a Disturbed CD for the first time in forever and the bass was just fine, but not enough. So I discovered that I could safely turn the bass all the way up to +4 with no distortion from the sub. The 4″ speakers in my dash distort there though so I dropped it down again to +3. It plays fine there with about 1/2 dozen CD’s I tried. All except Chevelle. Any Chevelle CD causes severe distortion until it’s turned down to +1 again.
