Can a candidate use his or her own funds for the By-Election campaign?
Yes. A candidate may use his or her own funds for an election campaign providing that all of the regulations are properly accorded. (i.e., a candidate for the Office Mayor or Councillor must be properly registered, file an audited statement showing all funds, be within the maximum expenditure limit, etc.) The conduct of the campaign for School Trustee, including money spent on the election campaign, is at the discretion of the individual.
