Can a bus shelter be placed at the new Med Center Express stop in front of the Hospitals Parking Garage?
Transportation & Parking has benches on order to be placed inside the garage entrance (about 10 feet to the north of the existing bus stop) that will provide a sheltered place for passengers to wait for the bus. This location is large, sheltered from inclement weather, and readily witin view of the bus stop allowing passengers to move to the stop once the bus arrives. The reason a bus shelter is not feasible at the exact location of the stop is that it narrows the sidewalk and causes problems for maintenance staff on campus-especially when trying to clear snow. Since there is a reasonable alternative within a few feet that does not impede snow removal and other maintenance, T&P is doing all they can to make it a comfortable environment to wait in. What can be done about vehicles that take up more than one space in the parking garages?
