Well alot of dogs’s owners, do leave them outside during their work hours, but a puppy should not be left alone for too long, leave the dog with a friend, you dont want it to not be sociable when its older.

As for leaving a Dog out side, in general I would no, this is a general consensus based on condition IF there are the right conditions though, I don’t see why not. A place to go that is clean comfortable and dry with water, Safe, A place that can be warm (in the Kennel, and a shaded area out side (say on grass) as well. The main issue that I’m sure you know is leaving a Pup for 9 hours with out any contact. How old is the pup? anything under 1 year I’d say NO WAY! Above that you can SLOWLY start leaving it bit by bit but given the fact that your just not there isnt a good start Adding: I now Own my Second Boxer, He’s he was 2 in march and is left for 5 hours and is a very happy dog, he gets a 30-45 min walk in the morning and another in the evening, Me & the g/f have 4 kids between us, so he gets a lot of exercise, attention, affection & Stimulation. Our last Boxer was left run of the house when he got to about 3, and never once chewed, wee’d, or dug the carpet ever, or showed any sign

Dogs have lived outside for many years my friend….The problem is when people give them unsafe or unfair conditions to live in. For example, chaining them, placed in direct sunlight, left for too long, no food, no clean water, not kept in a fence etc. As a boxer owner myself I can say this…..Boxers are very childish, they never grow out of the puppy stage. What I mean is everyone we know including us cannot leave their boxers inside without being crated. They chew, play, eliminate etc, and they are prone to seperation anxiety too. So we put our boxer outside for a while while we were at work. However, we did not chain her, we made sure she wouldnt dig out, we gave her sppropriate heart worm/flea meds, we built her a nice cool house, turned fans on and didnt leave her when it was too hot, she was also in a 6ft privacy fence. She loved it. So do what you see fit as long as it is not cruel or endangering the animal. Putting a dog outside does not make you wrong.
