Can a black hole suck in the sun?

0

Sure, there are black holes big enough to do that. But these biggies, themselves as massive as stars, are rare. The closest one that we know of, is a black hole associated with a visible star called V 4641 in the constellation Sagittarius. It is 1,600 light years away. That pair is typical. It used to be an ordinary pair of stars, one more massive and therefore evolving more rapidly. The bigger one turned into a black hole and we see it because gas from the star that’s left is falling into the black hole.
