Can a bimini be designed to extend aft of my backstay?

Yes! In fact we find that with most modern cockpit designs the bimini has to extend aft of the backstay to properly cover the helm area. By using slits with two zippers through which the single or split backstay pass we are able to achieve shading all the way aft.
