Can a bar get in trouble for serving VIP?

0

This is what is called the “dram shop law.” Though it isn’t on the books in most states businesses must carry insurance to cover them in case a lawsuit is brought against them for serving an enebriated person alcohol. If the girl had caused injury to someone else due to being served while drunk then there would be a cause of action against the bar. However, the only thing that happened is that this crazy girl made her own decision to get behind the wheel while drunk. She got caught and should face the results. This is her fault and no one else’s. Those “few people at the bar” who saw her being served…did they try to do anything to keep her from driving? Perhaps the fact that they didn’t is the real crime here.
