Can a 60s/70s Volvo P1800 make a reliable everyday car?
I have a ’66 that I’ve owned for fourteen years. It is as reliable as any car on the road. The running gear is all the same as the 120 series sedans of the era. Volvo was one of the most reliable cars on the road back then. It’s a shame that trend is not continuing. I drove my 1800 every day for the first two years I had it, then decided to rehab it. That’s not done yet but I still drive it two or three times a week. These cars are very simple, easy to work on and maintain. They are fun to drive and will definitely start a conversation. The only drawback is rust. The 1800 body panels are intricately designed and assembled with lots of places for road dirt, leaves and other crap to build up and eventually cause corrosion. Get one. You won’t regret it.
