Can a 500fps .177 pellet gun kill a mole?
A Gamo Delta has roughly the same power level as a Gamo Recon, 3.5-3.9 ft-lbs (7-7.5 grain pellet at 475-500 fps). Given that moles in the USA are about the size of a mouse or a chipmunk it should have enough power to kill a mole at close range, provided you’re not trying to shoot through dirt. If you’re trying to shoot through dirt forget about it. As for where to shoot it, personally I’d go for a head shot but that’s just me. A shot to the heart/lung area (probably right behind the front shoulder) should also work. Moles are a rodent, so it should be able to run. You might be able to get him out of his burrow to shoot him, but I wouldn’t bet on it. A better option would simply be to use a lethal mole trap.
