The Pacific Coast Highway is a delight to drive. Interestingly I have always done it north to south from San Francisco to LA. Most people stop at Cannery Row though it is now just a theme mall. And see Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Otherwise the scenery is the thing. Without stopping a lot, it is a 13 hour trip. 2 days if you do make stops.
