Broken, possibly decayed molar, what are my options?

I was just eating something a little bit ago when I tasted something strange and found a chunk of my molar had fallen right off. The molar is the last one on the left side bottom, (number 17 based on this: http://www.oasisadvancedwellness.com/images/tools/tooth-chart.gif ), and the chunk missing is the upper right of it. The inside of the chunk that fell out looked to be somewhat black, so I fear it’s decay, it doesn’t hurt at all though, it just tastes a little weird when I swallow sometimes. I’ve never had this happen, and I don’t have a lot of money and no dental insurance, so I wanted to know what are my options, what kind of procedure/how painful it is, what the price range is, how bad it is, and what happens if it’s ignored? Sorry, it’s not 17. I forgot about Wisdom teeth. It’s 18. I work in the dental field for many years and I can tell you this, if the tooth broke easily this is because it it soft which is due to decay especially sine you said it looked black.
