You cannot have a removable cast, or walking cast after an operation like that. The point of a hard cast is to immobilize the leg, so that the bone can heal along with the plates and screws, you cannot allow them to move. If you were to cut if off, you would probably debilitate yourself, for the rest of your life. You will have stitches or staples more than likely. You generally cannot feel them though. You will also probably be on heavy painkillers, so for the first week or so, you will probably sleep the majority of the time, which should help with some of it. If you Have OCD to the point of cutting your cast off, and potentially harming yourself. You may really need to evaluate if you should have the operation at all. The bone will eventually heal, just probably not very well, probably about as well as if you cut a cast off, after having that sort of operation. You really need to talk with your surgeon and make him aware of all of your fears. If the surgery is absolutely necessary,
