Breach of wedding venue contract for October 2010 event. What are my legal rights?

We have a signed contract and exclusive catering contract. The venue contract has F&B section and the catering contract has a bev section that shows ‘provided by client’ since we agreed to provide own alcohol. We orig. agreed to a $5/head charge for the bev service. Coordinator got fired so I followed up with owner to confirm cost. He confirmed via email the $5/head. Now he is telling me there is a 100 person min. and the cost is over $600 vs. orig $250. We had mins. stricken from contract as our party is small. I protested but owner is not conceding on this increase claiming we didn’t put any payments towards the bev service and there is nothing he can do. We already gave $2,000 to retain venue and caterer. What is best way to handle?
