Boats and live steam locomotives at the same time! What could be better than that?
Hamilton, ON – May 25, 2007- The first special summer event at the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology features the Confederation Marine Modellers sailing radio-controlled boats and the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers running steam-powered locomotives, Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27. There is a 10 metre by 15 metre pool for sailing and demonstrating electric-controlled boats. A display tent will be full of model craft of all kinds. Live steam trains are like full-sized locomotives – burning coal, generating steam for power, pulling passenger cars – only smaller. A new extension of the in-ground track will carry passengers over new landscapes in the park, with diesel, electric and steam locomotives. Smaller engines pull passengers on an elevated track. Come and get to know members of both clubs. Try your hand at these fabulous hobbies. While visiting, take a tour of the 1859 Water Works with its 70-tonne steam engines.
