At the daycare center, someone noticed the hearing aids on her baby and commented that they didn’t know it was possible to determine retardation in a child that young. Naturally, baby Shiloh’s mother had a strong desire to lash back — any protective parent would. Fortunately, someone else spoke up and informed that insensitive and ignorant person that her statement was ignorant, and hinted that the baby’s mother was around. Hard to believe that there are any hearing people out there today who confuse hearing loss with mental retardation, but apparently it does happen as Shiloh’s mother discovered.
