They would be unlikely to find the fluid path, and therefore they would be unable to inject. However it often happens that a minute quantity of fluid can be left in an area within the Bionector, but outside of the fluid path. As a result of this, the next time that someone connects a luer, the Bionector may not work. The fluid in this case, inhibits the displacement of the membrane. Therefore we would recommend that in such an event, that the Bionector be changed. However it is important to note that the safety of the patient will never be compromised. Because Bionector is unlikely to work with a needle, this forces compliance with a needlefree system.
