The story of water on Mars goes like this: For centuries many people believed that Mars was Earth-like: warm, wet and filled with life. The Mariner missions in the late 1960’s revealed a much different Mars, covered with craters, extinct volcanoes, waterless deserts, and temperatures colder than Antarctica. But today scientists are beginning to suspect that Mars hasn’t always been such a dry place, and that there may be water again on the surface in the future.
