between the 2-3 year assignments and apprentice service?
Personnel serve in 2-3 year assignments as journeymen, International Service Corps or masters. They are provided with financial support, housing, travel expenses, and insurance. There is often opportunity for subsequent assignments. Personnel are approved by a staff committee. People with a past history of divorce can apply for this option. (Note: Divorce must have been finalized five years in the past and there must be no dependent children under the age of 18.) Apprentices first go on a 3 year term and then transition to career. The assumption is that they are looking at serving for many years, the apprentice term is merely the beginning point. They receive financial support, housing, travel expenses, insurance, and other additional benefits. The application process is managed by a candidate consultant who is assigned to the applicant based on where the applicant lives. Personnel must ultimately be approved by the trustees of the IMB.
