Betuligem is pricey – what is it exactly?
Betuligem is an extract of the external bark and of the internal bark of Birch roots. These are the parts of the plant which have the greatest concentration of betulinic acid and betulin. We collect it on adult plants, but the bark itself is made of embryonic tissues just like the roots. Betuligem is more concentrated than the regular white birch bark. It is used in renal failure and when stricken by cancer to induce apoptosis. We have developed a special process to extract the betulinic acid and betulin from the external bark of the tree and the internal bark of the roots.
