Besides churches, what are the other religious buildings/sites in Singapore that are worth visiting?
Answer Hi Tim, I’m not familiar with all the denominations of the churches in Singapore. I could only recommend the ones that I like although I have not been to many. One that is really lovely is the St Andrew’s Cathedral. It’s the oldest Anglican church in Singapore. It was built in the 1860s. Interesting thing about it is the plaster they use – Madras Chunam. Mixture of shell lime, egg white and sugar! Sound good enough to eat. To me, it looks like a fairytale castle. The other one is the Church of St Gregory the Illuminator. It’s a very small church, just a stone’s throw away from St Andrew’s. It’s the oldest church in Singapore, built in 1835. It’s an Armenian church but it no longer has Armenian services because there are not enough Armenians here. It is used occasionally by the Greek Orthodox.
