Besides checkmate, what are the other ways the game of chess can end according to the rules?
Stalemate, which happens in a number of ways. 1. The only two pieces left on the board are the two kings. 2. Say white’s king has been cornered by black’s pieces. He’s not in check/checkmate, but there’s no way he can move anywhere, and there’s no way he can move any other piece, due to either having no other pieces, or having a pawn trapped by another piece. 3. There are insufficient trapping pieces, such as having a king and a knight vs. the other king. I think there is another way, but I just can’t remember what it is.
