Being developed for NASAs use, how and when did memory foam find its way to the public?
One of the developers of memory foam found that the invention could provide important benefits to the human body, especially in relieving pressure sores. Memory foam was then introduced to the consumer market in the early 1990s. Tempur World (formerly Fagerdala World Foams) is notable for being one of the few companies back then willing to develop the foam as a product for public use. Since its manufacture was very complicated and expensive, it was mainly targeted at the medical industry.
