Bedrock Games specializes in genre-specific rules. What does that mean, exactly?
BD: While we have a core system (the Network System) we strive to tailor it to the genre of each game we make. For example, we have a mafia game coming out soon (Crime Network). Rather than fit the mafia game to our existing rules system, we altered our existing rules system to fit the mafia game. This means we change the names of skills, revise the skill groupings, and add new rules when needed. We feel each genre has its own feel, and that mechanics play a big part in that. MT: Can you elaborate on your motto of playability, plausibility, personality? BD: These are the three things we keep in mind during design. Playability: is streamlined, easy to use and fun. Plausablity: is making sure our settings and mechanics are within the realm of plausbility and internally consistent. Personality: does the product have a distinct feel. The last one is less obvious with Terror Network, because the book was deliberately dry and academic (in a sense that is the personality of the game). However
