Baking soda -the hot tub cure-all??

Baking soda is an antacid but do not use it to increase to pH! It’s mildly abrasive. It’s used in ‘whiting’ toothpaste and softscrub for this reason. Baking Soda will prematurely wear out your pump seals. Pump seals are basically two parts that rub together forming a water tight ‘seal’. One side is phenol graphite, the other is ceramic. The graphite side is like pencil lead and wears down with use. Rub a pencil on sandpaper and see if it does not wear out faster than on plain paper.
