Back to Questions at Top ^ 4. What happens when someone breaches their curfew?
• A person can breach their curfew either by being absent during the hours of their curfew or by deliberately tampering with the monitoring equipment. In both cases, G4S staff are alerted and attempt to contact the person to determine if they are at home and whether they admit to having breached their electronic monitoring requirement. • If G4S staff verify that the person has breached their curfew, they inform the appropriate supervising agency, who have responsibility for taking enforcement action. The agency involved will depend on the type of electronic monitoring requirement: the PSNI deal with bail cases; the Youth Justice Agency deal with those young people subject to a youth conference order and the Probation Board deal with those who have an electronic monitoring requirement as part of a probation order, combination order, custody probation order, juvenile justice centre order or as a licence condition.
