• Electronic monitoring is a tool for monitoring compliance with a curfew and the courts and prisons will ultimately decide on the appropriateness of a curfew with an electronic tag. Individuals receiving a sentence from 1st April 2009 under the supervision of the Probation Board or Youth Justice Agency are assessed for suitability for an electronic tag. • The courts will make an assessment on whether a curfew and tag would be an appropriate bail condition in the context of the usual decision process when deciding if bail is appropriate. However, it would not be a good use of resources to tag all subjects who are subject to bail.
