It supports public protection as it provides an additional measure of control for the supervising agencies. Those who break their curfew conditions will be immediately identifiable and there can be no doubt that an electronically monitored curfew is more effective than a curfew without this provision. • It is the intention that electronic monitoring will support offender resettlement, aiding the transition between prison and release where appropriate and allowing the person to remain in the community to participate in work, training or other rehabilitative programmes.
