Why Does the Christian Right Hate Harry Potter? Not quite we still have two more movies to go and they will surely inspire some negative reactions as well. Nevertheless, we are surely coming to the end of this and since the last book is now in people’s hands, it’s probably a good time to step back and take a closer look at why this series of children’s books would inspire so much vitriol. This isn’t just an academic exercise. If would-be authoritarian leaders think that there is something dangerous about the Harry Potter books, then there must be something in them which is antithetical to the authoritarian mindset and/or agenda.
