You do not require this advanced driver certification to apply for a firefighter position. However, when you have successfully advanced through the selection process to the point of job offer, you will be asked to acquire a license to operate both ambulances and fire apparatus in Alberta. We will accept any of the following licenses: – Alberta Class 1; – Alberta Class 2 with air brake endorsement (Q); – Alberta Class 3 and Class 4 licenses with air brake endorsement (Q). • Can I apply if I have a Graduated Driver’s License (i.e. Probationary license)? Since you are not able to upgrade your license while holding a Graduated Driver’s License, we are not able to accept your application until you are off probation.
